1. An American Werewolf in London
This movie is essential for any lover of the werewolf genre half dark comedy half horrifying. Follows two dudes vacationing in an english country side and as always do not follow the warnings, terror ensues of the lycan kind.
Best Horror Scene: Hmmmm I really don't want to give too much away but the transformation scene is scary and tortuous to watch, but you will have to check it out, heres the teaser trailer..
2. The Conjuring.
A family is haunted by something in their new house, but Poltergeist this is not. Based on a case by real life paranormal investigator couple, Ed and Lorraine Warren, so this like actually happened? What it lacks in gore The Conjuring makes up with chills.
Best Horror Scene: My best has to be the opening, where they tell the story of Annabelle a demonic possessed doll, it was so popular they made a movie about it, which was...meh... save for two fooking scary scenes. I cannot find a nice video with the opening so I''ll just leave you with the clap clap trailer..
3. The Return of the Living Dead
Best Horror Moment: Tarman!!!
4.Perfect Blue
Not categorised as a horror specifically, more like a Hitchcockian-like thriller with bloody murders, a pop star tries to begin a new life as a serious actor but strange things are happening and a killer is out there or in there... truly a great piece of anime.
Best Horror Scene: hmmm not really but there are graphic murder scenes like the photographer. FYI: the is some nudity so NSFW.
5. Sleepaway Camp
Just your average 80's slasher; kids go to a camp and get systematically slaughtered one by one, you know the drill. The hum dinger is the ending, which I ain't giving away
Best Horror Moment: THE ENDING!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I see you have made it past the movies part, well for that I will give you the english translation of the zombie speak from the intro, yes it actually means something, which I acquired from this site, a cool piece of internet to loose some life minutes for.
* Welcome children of the night to another year of ghastly treats and ghoulish delights, I have the usual round up of horror films I crave and music to die and be reborn for, so grab a shotgun point towards the only entrance and lets go!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I say now on towards the music, there are always some great mixtapes brought out specifically for this time of year and I have a few right here:
UNCLE TNUC is always the avid fan of the 80's be it in sound or film so its fitting that halloween would be high on his interest list, be sure to check out his past tapes too.
Rick Shithouse is the mind behind synth wave site Synthetix.fm, why does that sound familiar you ask? Well you might recall me mentioning in some Sunday Tunage's, that I happen to write reviews every week or so. This puppy is close to two hours and has some really goo material from all over the synthverse. What a trick and treat!!
RL Grime in the house for this one. with intro by Goosebumps writer R.L. Stine himself. This one one has more bang, for the peeps who wan to get down.
On the opposite spectrum is the Plastic Response Records Halloween Mixtape 2014, pure indie rock from obscure bands via The Munsters.
Be sure to check out my 50th post on the Sunday Tunage this weekend, its another POWER EDITION!! Have a great Halloween my fellow freaks and geeks and I wish you many candies or beers or masked hookups as possible but be careful you never know who might be behind the toilet door when you are puking your guts out.
